Consciousness and The Ideal of Self:
Jimin seems passive and more or less resigned to his fate, including his insecurity. Actually, Jimin is fairly introverted and withdrawn, trying to make sense out of his inner confusion and fathom his inner depths.
At the moment of Jimin’s birth, the two celestial “lights” (the sun and the moon) were symmetrically aligned. This is a portent of harmony between the masculine and feminine archetypes which is extremely beneficial. It is the source of balance and understanding between the two main psychological realms which may be said to compose the personality. Jimin thus enjoys a positive complementarity and understanding between the conscious and unconscious aspects of his psyche, between his determination and his routines, between his drive for self-assertion and his receptivity, his ideal and his sensitivity.
Jimin’s parents almost certainly reflected a positive image of the marriage relationship to him, and it is likely that they encouraged him to develop his own individuality. As a result, Jimin was and is able to be comfortable with himself as he is instead of striving to attain his parents’ ideal. This has definitely contributed to the maintenance of a good relationship with them and the rest of the family.
In Jimin’s emotional relationships with his peers, one of the effects of the masculine/feminine harmony is that the images his ego projects on the other are especially constructive. The bonds of the relationship are not felt to be constraints, the energy which flows between the two people is a source of mutual happiness, not regret. No major personal conflicts are projected onto the “other” – that is, the significant other.
Jimin is sober and rather reserved and may even strike people as harsh and austere at times. Perhaps Jimin was raised in an atmosphere of rigor and sobriety, and, as a result, grew up very fast. Jimin has acquired a spirit of self-sufficiency, tends to be rather uncompromising, and has a touchy sense of Jimin’s personal dignity and worth. It is almost as though Jimin is fighting an inner battle with Jimin’s father or a father figure. The psychological models Jimin received from Jimin’s father or a father figure as a result of Jimin’s interaction and Jimin’s own interaction with authority may not have played a major role in shaping Jimin’s relationships with the outer world and society. Jimin may thus have been forced to compensate for this lack with individual determination.
As a result, although Jimin is skillful, meticulous, conscientious, and efficient, a lack of self-confidence and personal assurance sometimes makes Jimin timid and hesitant. Jimin sometimes feels as though Jimin is only masquerading as a respectable, sober adult. Jimin tend to be far too critical of Jiminself and rarely feel satisfied that Jimin is living up to Jimin ideal. These unnecessary guilt feelings may lead Jimin to turn down the prominent career positions for which Jimin is fully qualified. Jimin is aware that early success is often short-lived and fragile and that time rewards those who know how to be patient and persistent, like Jimin.
Despite Jimin’s desire to devote himself to the creation of a mild and harmonious emotional climate, he sometimes encounters friction with others. His vision of other people is sometimes clouded by feelings of insecurity, and his need to obtain acceptance at any price may sometimes drive him to make too many concessions or compromises.
Jimin is an ardent free thinker and individualist who is convinced that his most precious basic values are freedom and independence. He has thrown off what he perceives as the burden of the convention and customs of his social class and adopted an innovative lifestyle. His passionate convictions, bordering on proselytism, sometimes trouble his relationships, as he may be an uncompromising partner. He would do well to learn to recognize his own limitations and accept the responsibilities he has to other people, or he is liable to find himself continually embroiled in conflicting relationships.
The roots of his somewhat extreme behavior probably lie in his relationship with his father or his teachers in childhood and adolescence. For one reason or another, he may have rejected the paternal image or refused to identify with his father, in the same way as he now refuses to adopt any values related to convention, tradition, or widespread usage. In every important life decision he makes as an adult, he is forced to rely on himself to elaborate the appropriate behavior, and the limits he must impose on his desires in relation to reality and the law.
Jimin is extremely sensitive and receptive and tends to live in osmosis with his surroundings. Jimin’s individuality almost seems to be diluted in a flood of sensations and impressions which are continually washing over him, and he sometimes finds it difficult to communicate his feelings to other people. This tide of emotion is a source of inspiration and intuition, but Jimin’s fluid inner structure and organization sometimes make it difficult for him to grasp the essence of his dreams and share them with other people. Jimin is not at all combative, and this tends to hinder his efforts to fit into society and assert himself productively.
Jimin is likely to prefer fantasy to reality, but Jimin’s refusal to abandon his unattainable dreams is a psychological trap he has fallen into without realizing it. Jimin must understand that by running away from his obligations and commitments, he only increases the feelings of guilt which made reality so distasteful in the first place. Once Jimin frees himself from this pernicious process, he has a great deal of potential for fulfilling himself in the outer world, either by devoting himself to some sort of social work or by cultivating his considerable artistic talents.
Adaptation and Sensitivity:
Because Jimin’s personality is ruled by his mind, he needs intellectual stimulation in order to feel fulfilled. He is always on the move, in search of new contacts. Curious about all sorts of different subjects, he takes care to inform himself about many things. He enjoys conversation and communication and hopes to be admired for his talent and wit. Due to him having such a wide variety of interests, however, he can be something of a dilettante, and his thinking may sometimes lack discipline.
Jimin is an expansive, affable, and communicative associate. Indeed, some people find Jimin generous almost to a fault! Jimin gives of Jimin’s self and Jimin’s resources unstintingly. Paradoxically, there are times when Jimin is self-focused. Jimin reacts instinctively, without taking the trouble to analyze a given situation, and are prone to misjudge. As a result, Jimin’s everyday life may be riddled with a whole variety of practical problems. Indeed, Jimin senses a conflict between Jimin’s social life and Jimin’s family and will sometimes find it hard to fulfill Jimin’s self in both spheres at the same time. Jimin’s attitude toward Jimin’s private life may inhibit Jimin’s ambitions for social or career expansion; at worst, society (the law) may impinge on Jimin’s private life. Jimin should be careful not to project Jimin’s personal problems onto Jimin’s partner. If, instead, the two of you analyzed the problem, you might be able to find opportunities to resolve it together.
Although Jimin’s demeanor is cool and distant, Jimin is extremely sensitive. In some cases, Jimin’s rather austere and rigid behavior and refusal to yield too readily to sentimentality discourage others from being too demonstrative of their tenderness and affection. Jimin has spells of melancholy in which Jimin does not feel worthy of being loved and tend to forbid Jimin any emotional fulfillment. An austere or somewhat traumatic childhood experience may be the source of this behavior. It is difficult for Jimin’s inner self to be detached from this past life, and Jimin sometimes has trouble reconciling the image Jimin has of Jimin as an adult with the one Jimin acquired back then. The idea Jimin has of Jimin as an individual is related to the image Jimin’s parents projected onto Jimin as a child. Nevertheless, the past is history, and Jimin is now an adult. It should be easy for Jimin to rid Jimin of these phantoms through self-work. Jimin has the ability to overcome Jimin’s mistakes, as well as great endurance and will power to achieve Jimin’s goals. Nevertheless, Jimin must not repress Jimin’s sensitivity in order to succeed.
Jimin’s intellect is sometimes haunted by disturbing philosophical anguishes and a need for security. As a result, Jimin’s adaptation to life and surroundings is somewhat complicated. Certain inhibitions may sometimes inhibit Jimin’s intellectual activity.
Love and Sensuality:
Jimin’s attractions are usually immediate and intense. They rise quickly to fever pitch. The story of these passions is often dramatic to excess, combining all the plot elements of a classic love tragedy: jealousy, possessiveness, agony as an erotic stimulant, etc.
Jimin’s birth chart indicates an emotional function which is usually expressed carefully and reasonably. Distrustful of Jimin’s emotional urges and somewhat wary of Jimin’s feelings, Jimin tries to rid himself of all partiality and tries to get some perspective and distance before making an emotional commitment.
As we suggested earlier, Jimin has a fine and delicate nature, responsive to the slightest breeze. Jimin is continually in search of human contact and discussion. Because Jimin is rather wishy-washy about opinions and somewhat frivolous, Jimin often yields to the flow of circumstances and encounters. Jimin is especially attracted to intellectually brilliant individuals who not only understand Jimin but also stimulate Jimin mentally.
As we suggested earlier, Jimin thrives on difficult or even lethal passions. Jimin might have a very strong sex drive and a penchant for suffering as a redeeming value. Jimin’s tumultuous love life, a battle of leviathans, may sometimes escape from its bounds or generate disagreements which may disrupt Jimin’s career. However, Jimin’s powerful impulses and drive could be channeled into a creative, artistic or spiritual direction.
Mental and Intellect:
Jimin’s mental aptitudes make him especially good at comparing, evaluating, and weighing information. This intellectual modus operandi has enabled him to develop an innate sense of values, both artistic and ethical, as well as a remarkable ability to relate to other people. His appreciative, conciliatory attitude makes him a skillful diplomat able to untangle conflict situations deftly and with ease. In other situations, his artistic spirit is sensitive to a wide variety of harmonies.
