How Leo celebs stay healthy and fit…
Aussie actress Yvonne Strahovski attributes her toned physique to “manual living”. She walks instead of driving, takes the stairs instead of elevators, and uses a whisk instead of an electric mixer in the kitchen. Oh, and she’s an avid surfer, too!
Fellow Leo actress Meghan Markle prefers to stroll down aisles, from her favorite farmers’ market to shoe shopping! This Lion downs a nutritional shake for breakfast and snacks on healthy homemade hummus. Instead of tortillas, she wraps vegetables in nori seaweed, and instead of french fries, she douses roasted sweet potatoes with salt, cumin, and red chili flakes for a fiery treat.
Leos are sizzling superstars!
Celebrity chef David Chang opened his Momofuku Noodle Bar in New York a decade ago, and since then has graced food lovers with more than a dozen other establishments in New York, Toronto, and Sydney, including Milk Bar dessert shops. Not content to stop there, this Lion publishes a literary food quarterly, Lucky Peach, starred in a Netflix series Ugly Delicious, and runs a culinary lab in Brooklyn, too!
And he does it all on sheer leonine energy. The self-described “pretty f***g hyper dude” needs no coffee to keep moving. And you know that secret Leo insecurity? Even this world-renowned culinary star sometimes wonders if he’s out of his depth!
This brave Leo truly goes the distance…
In 2013, long-distance swimmer Diana Nyad finally realized her lifelong dream when she swam from Cuba to Florida. She did it without a shark cage. She did it at the mercy of poisonous jellyfish stings and relentless sun, salt, and waves. She did it on her fifth try. And she did it at age 64.
Diana is no pushover, thanks to her fixed sign! Failure has only fueled this Lion’s determination. A heart condition kept her from competing in the 1968 Olympics, but she went on to be an award-winning, world-record-holding swimmer, tennis and squash player, author, motivational speaker, sports commentator, and radio-show host. Go, cat, go!
Jason Sudeikis might be too good to be true…
Actor, comedian, and SNL alum Jason Sudeikis may play a disgruntled employee or drug smuggler in the movies, but he’s serious about good causes. The cause that’s closest to his heart is the Children’s Mercy Cancer Center in Kansas City, Missouri, which helps improve the physical and emotional well-being of children with cancer.
This Virgo has helped raise nearly $6 million for the cause. Sudeikis and fellow area natives Paul Rudd (Bridesmaids, They Came Together) and Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family) visit kids in the hospital and host the annual Big Slick City Celebrity Weekend fundraiser. Jason says, “it is remarkable that a few people giving a damn can change things for people who need it.”
This rising Virgo celeb is talented and thoughtful!
Not all celebs are vain and self-absorbed! When Dylan O’Brien got the part of Stiles on MTV’s Teen Wolf, he wanted fans to see how “genuinely sweet and loyal” the guy was. And like a true Virgo, Dylan “will go any distance to remain internal and not open up.”
He’s been around the business all his life—his dad’s a cameraman and his mom ran an acting school. At age 10 he made videos and posted them on YouTube. He wanted to go to film school, but people loved his videos, one thing led to another, and by 17, he was going to auditions. Now he’s known for the sci-fi The Maze Runner too. His advice? “Just to be proactive…just be doing your own thing. Eventually, good things will happen. And if not, you’re still doing what you want to do!”
This Virgo is not all brains and brilliance…
Virgo rules the mind, and few people have a sharper one than Jimmy Fallon, latest host of The Tonight Show, and famous SNL star. Fully aware of the enormous shoes he was stepping into (a job only a few people will hold), the ever-cheerful comedian seemed more than ready for the role of a lifetime.
It’s rare when such a wildly popular celeb is so generous and, as he’s been called, “sweet”. The youngest of the late-night contingent, his demeanor isn’t snide, cranky, or overtly political. He just has fun. Generations of Americans fell asleep to Johnny Carson, and Jimmy says, “if you can fall asleep to me, I’d be absolutely honored!” Jimmy now stars in The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, so it looks like fans will be doing just that for a long, long time.
This Virgo celeb doesn’t forget to be awesome…
In 2006, Y.A. writer John Green (Looking for Alaska) came up with the idea of communicating with his brother for a year only through YouTube videos. The project helped his novel, and now movie, The Fault in Our Stars in ways he couldn’t have predicted, thanks to the Vlogbrothers’ more than two million subscribers!
Like most Virgos, John is smart, conscientious, and something of a worrier. His books examine the “big questions”. He says, “I love the intensity teenagers bring not just to first love but also to the first time you’re grappling with grief…and whether there’s meaning in life.” Fans know that D.F.T.B.A. means “Don’t Forget to Be Awesome”—good advice from this introspective Virgo!
Aisha Tyler is sexy, funny, and smart!
Virgo’s symbol represents a strong work ethic, and Aisha Tyler is certainly reaping the rewards for her efforts! A self-described “nerdy kid”, the Dartmouth-educated law-student-turned-comic seems to have done it all (and all at once)—movies, TV, voices for animation and video games, music videos, standup gigs, talk show host, author, magazine contributor, poker player, weekly podcaster, fundraiser for the American Red Cross, Planned Parenthood, The Trust for Public Land, and more. What doesn’t she do? Nothing, apparently. She also speaks French, Russian, and Swahili. But comedy has her heart. “From the very first day I knew it’s what I wanted to do,” she says.
Words of wisdom from famous Virgos…
“To achieve great things, two things are needed—a plan and not quite enough time. – Leonard Bernstein
“If you’re afraid to fail, then you’re probably going to fail.” – Kobe Bryant
“Faced with what is right, to leave it undone shows a lack of courage.” – Confucius
“I have made plenty of mistakes. The key to life is to learn from them.” – Richard Gere
“I love those who yearn for the impossible.” – Goethe
“Great works are performed not by strength but by perseverance.” – Samuel Johnson
“The only way to survive is to have a sense of humor.” – Bob Newhart
Movie night? Some great picks for you…
You’re always on the go. You gravitate toward the action, and you want to be in the middle of it. But that can get exhausting if you try to keep it up 24/7. Sit back, relax, and let the stars take the knocks for a change.
Jennifer Lawrence battles to the death in The Hunger Games. Anything with “Bourne” or “007” or “Terminator” in the title is a safe bet for an Aries! Or get a few cheap thrills with some classic action flicks starring Clint Eastwood, Charles Bronson, or John Wayne.
Nobody says action has to be serious either. Yuk it up with Men in Black, Tropic Thunder, or Kiss Kiss Bang Bang!
